It is an attractive vibrant town with a harbour and waterfront, that offers visitors plenty of sightseeing and shopping with an abundance of restaurants for discerning diners. Attractions in and around the town include a gin distillery, museum, the Church of Santa Maria with its magnificent church organ, and the prehistoric remains of Trepucó.

One of Mahon’s main claims to fame is that Mayonnaise was invented here. With a good selection of accommodation and hotels, Mahon is an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the island.
